A Note from the Director: Rachel Klein

Hello NCSY Camp Maor Families! Today the campers completed their final dress rehearsal for The Snow Queen. The ladies have been working hard all month, memorizing their lines and staging, creating fantastical characters, and working on developing their confidence. The campers spent the week working with microphones, lighting and sound design, as well as costumes designed by New York costume and fashion designer, Arielle Avina, to prepare for the final performance of the piece, which they are all very proud of.

Award winning playwright Ashley Griffin wrote The Snow Queen specifically for NCSY Camp Maor, so that each camper could play a creative and challenging role. After dress rehearsal, the girls were surprised with a Q and A session with my dear friend and collaborator, Crista Marie Jackson, a professional Hollywood stuntwoman and circus performer, who told the campers a bit about her career, and how she trained Zendaya to prepare for The Greatest Showman and her experiences performing regularly with Beyoncé. This not only was fun for the girls, but a continuation of the lessons they learned here at NCSY Camp Maor inspired by this year’s theme: Believe.

I hope you enjoy the performance! The girls worked so hard!
